Meet The Team

Cara Caulkins, President & Founder: Cara has over a decade of public relations experience with expertise in strategic planning and execution of communications programs for an array of lifestyle consumer brands and businesses. Cara began her public relations career in Chicago and New York at award-winning public relations agencies working on national consumer brands in the food, beauty and lifestyle space. After living in Manhattan, she decided to take some time to explore a freelance career and satisfy a personal desire to travel and explore other countries and cultures around the world. During this time, she traveled to more than 15 countries and lived abroad in South America, engaging with people and products on a global scale. Following this life-changing experience, Cara relocated to Austin, TX. In Fall 2016, Austin Way Magazine, named Cara on "The List" -a who's who of prominent Austin-based community leaders, business executives, athletes and celebrities. In 2019, Austin Business Journal recognized Cara as a nominee for Profiles in Power, Central Texas Women of Influence. She continues to add her expertise to industry panels and speaking events with brands like General Assembly, Bumble Bizz, Planoly, PRSSA, SXSW and more.  Cara Caulkins Communications merges her personal passions with her professional interests in supporting great brands that encourage others to look, feel and live the best version of themselves.

Kelsey Mohn, Senior Account Executive: Born & raised in Minneapolis, Kelsey's passion for planning events started after planning Kelsey's Kandy Shop themed graduation party. Desiring a career where she could collaborate with others to create exceptional experiences, Kelsey has gone onto planning bigger and better events. From Vogue's Met Gala to the Austin Film Festival, Mack, Jack & McConaughey's Fundraiser, weekend getaways for 30 attendees, and Aspen's Ski Week, Kelsey has a sweeping background in event management. She began her public relations career following the 2016 Met Gala when she accepted a job from the French clothing brand, Maison Margiela, in New York City. During her time there she had the pleasure to work with top fashion magazines to secure clothing placements on the likes of Nicole Kidman, Katy Perry, Kendall Jenner, Rihanna and Sarah Paulson. With her family back in Austin, Kelsey made the move after two years in NYC and began her journey with Cara Caulkins Communications in February 2018.

Jenna Scherz, Account Executive: Jenna is a recent graduate from The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in public relations, along with a Business Foundations Certificate from the McCombs School of Business. A Georgia peach, born and raised in Atlanta with a big personality and the ability to talk to a wall by age three, Jenna knew she needed to work in a social environment. Jenna began utlilzing her creativity and love for writing, working in Atlanta, one of the hottest food cities in the country, as a PR intern for Phase 3 Marketing & Communications in 2016, as well as a PR & Marketing intern at 101 Concepts Restaurant Group in 2017. In January 2018, Jenna's adventure at Cara Caulkins Communications began when she started as an intern and today, she is thrilled to continue supporting the team.
